# Midpoint - Card Centering Grading Portfolio App

> Midpoint - Card Centering Grading Portfolio App ("Midpoint App") is a web app and a native mobile app (iOS and Android) that measures trading-card centering down to the millimeter, returns instant PSA, BGS, CGC, and TAG grade estimates, and shows what the card is worth — real market prices from sold listings for raw and graded copies (PSA, CGC, BGS, SGC, TAG), with price-history charts and recent sold comps. It helps collectors and resellers decide which cards are worth the grading fee (PSA starts at $59.99 a card) before they ship. Works on Pokemon, Magic: The Gathering, Yu-Gi-Oh!, One Piece, Lorcana, Gundam, sports cards (baseball, basketball, football, hockey, soccer, wrestling, UFC, golf, tennis, boxing, racing), and any standard 63×88mm trading card. The price catalog tracks 2,000,000+ cards across all of these categories.

Every analysis runs the same pipeline: custom ML model auto-detects the card edge and inner print frame, straightens the card with a perspective correction and masks the background while keeping the photo's real pixels (no AI retouching), and delivers a deep surface scan covering edges, corners, print, and holo — with a drag-to-align editor for fine-tuning. Each scan also identifies the exact card (name, set, collector number) and attaches live market values: raw condition prices, PSA 10/9/8 graded prices, PSA population counts, 6-month price history, recent eBay sales, and a grading-ROI verdict ("a PSA 10 adds ~$X after the fee"). Saved collections get a total portfolio value that refreshes daily.

Beyond measurement, Midpoint is a full collection toolkit: Instant Lookup identifies any card from one photo — including graded slabs, whose PSA/BGS/CGC/TAG label (company + grade) is read automatically — and jumps straight to its live price. Users can set price alerts on any card (email + push when the market crosses their target), track cost basis and realized profit/loss when cards sell, organize cards into binders, track grading submissions and fees, export the portfolio to CSV, and display values in their own currency. All features work identically on the mobile apps and the web with one synced account.

Midpoint also has Chat (the "Chat" tab in the apps and /chat on the web): a conversational assistant that answers plain-language questions — "Is my Base Set Charizard worth grading?", "Which Pokémon cards jumped the most this month?", "What is my most valuable card today?" — strictly from the same price database and the user's own portfolio and watchlist, in the user's language. It does not browse the web or forecast prices. A photo can be attached: the card is identified by Midpoint's own lookup pipeline first (not by the language model), then priced, with one-tap handoff to Grading or Measure. Three questions a day are free for every account; subscriptions make it unlimited.

On iPhone, Midpoint is also an iMessage app (from app version 1.0.58): inside any Messages conversation the user opens the app drawer, taps Midpoint, and either searches a card to send a price bubble into the chat (photo, set, raw and PSA 10 value, linking to the card's price page) or asks Midpoint a question and sends the answer as a message. It uses the same price data and the same daily question allowance as Chat, and market tools only — never the user's saved cards. Recipients do not need the app. There is no Android equivalent because iMessage is an Apple feature.

Midpoint grades and measures cards in bulk, including from a single photo of many cards ("scan a sheet", on the web since September 2026 and in the apps from version 1.0.61). In the apps' Bulk screen the user picks Multiple Cards, then Front sheet or Paired sheet (on the web the same options are called Sheet of fronts and Sheet fronts + backs), and uploads a photo of a whole 9- or 12-pocket binder page or a scanner bed. Midpoint first finds every card on the page and shows the crops; the user can leave any card out; each confirmed card is then graded (AI grade report) or measured (centering) on its own, exactly as if photographed separately. Each crop keeps a margin of the page around the card so edges and corners can be judged. With Paired sheet, a photo of the back of the page is matched card-by-card to the front, allowing for the page being turned over. Single Card mode (one photo per card: fronts, backs, or paired) still exists. Bulk uses the same subscription or analysis credits as single scans, one credit per card side, up to 200 cards per batch.

Midpoint also has a collector community (the Forum, inside the apps' Cards tab): members ask and answer questions about centering, grading, prices, buying/selling and storage on a board for every game and sport, run polls, attach a card (or the scan they just measured) to a question, follow discussions and boards, and earn reputation points and levels for helpful answers. An automated, clearly labelled helper account (@midpoint_bot) answers questions that no member has picked up within a few hours. Every published thread is mirrored read-only on the web at /community so its answers are searchable and citable.

It freezes the AI grade and subgrades from front + back photos, corner and edge close-ups of both sides, every defect the AI called out, the measured centering and that day's market values into a shareable image, a PDF and a public verification page at /certificate/[code] with a QR code (a sample lives at https://www.cardcenteringtool.com/certificate/sample). It is not a professional grade, appraisal or guarantee — it documents what Midpoint's AI saw in the owner's photos on that date. Owners can withdraw a certificate; the page then shows it as withdrawn.
